A Strong Competitor for Toyota “Honda CRV”


Honda CRV is an SUV produced by the Honda Japan. It is quite a spacious vehicle, with wide size; especially the legs comfort area is quite good. It can be called as a sister of Toyota Prado or BMW X3 or Toyota Rav4. It is a solid car that gives a good feeling about the build quality. Honda CRV was first manufactured in 1995. This SUV was originally created from the purpose of Honda Civic, as it is meant as a multifunctional vehicle. It is also known as “Civic Recreational Vehicle”. Honda CRV 2011 is available in four variants. 1. Lx with a price of 21000 Euros.2.Ex 3 available for 23000 Euros. Ex-L the most expensive with a price of 28000 Euros. 4. SE with a price of 27000 Euros.

The engine size for all the variants are same i.e. 2.4L, that is able to produce 18 hp/16llb-ft of torque. The transmission is 5 speeds automatic. No manual available. All the variants are front wheel drive with an optional 4 wheel drive. It has a very comfortable and luxurious interior. The main functions include Air conditioner, electronic seats, cruise control, Stereo system with Mp3 player, USB interface as optional, Navigation system, leather seats, Bluetooth etc. The latest model of the Honda CRV is the part of third generation that was started in 2007. The best variant EX-L also has power driver seats, with an automatic climate control. The 2008 model comes with powerful stereo system. The SE variant was started in the year 2011.

The shifting from second generation to the third generation was quite good as many improvements were made in the new generation. The new one got more interior room, more power, and it is much better in passenger safety. The ABS brakes in Honda CRV were not standard until in the LX variant until 2005. While the EX variant used to come with a standard ABS system with side airbags. Sunroof and rear ventilation ducts were also made available in that model.

The LX variant comes with a standard 4 wheel drives, with an optional AWD, but EX was just AWD until the year 2006, it was made FWD later. In the reviews we read about this SUV, it is stated that when Honda CRV take a run at some hard surface, it is quite comfortable and has a neglect able sound. CRV just like other SUVs is not meant for terrains but for the off roading purpose. It has a great ground clearance that comes handy on sharp and hard surfaces. The power is good with a gentle acceleration, and the fuel efficiency is good if we keep the 2.4l engine in mind. The first generation that was produced from 1997-2001, was a compact SUV. It was priced not that high, and it was meant for more passenger room and also a large cargo capacity that the successors. The manual transmission in CRV was added in 1998, alongwith a 20hp boost was given to its engine making it 146hp in total. The leather trimmed variant of SE was also added in that lineup that year.
