A Mighty Truck Known As Toyota Tundra
Toyota Tundra when build at the start of the 2000, it was considered to be a full size truck, as a compatible of big jeeps. It is an awesome SUV, with so many features to be praised including powerful and roaring V8 engine, and the name Toyota gives the guarantee of durability and reliability. The buyers of the first generations of Toyota Tundra were the one’s who were more interested in conventional pickup. People used it for their weekend trip purposes, or for transferring some store room’s stuff from one place to another. Even some people used it for pulling smaller and lighter objects. Toyota Tundra is favorite of Americans, and it was nominated for the American Truck for the year award. Nowadays, Tundra is manufactured in San Antonio, Texas for USA. The first generation of Tundra was quite much alike of Toyota Tacoma or the Toyota T100. The main similarity was the 3.4L V6 engine.
This truck has many cool features such as it has towing capacity which is up to 10,000+lb, it also has a payload capacity of about 2000lb. Nowadays a 5.7L heavy loaded 3UR-FE V8 engine is assembled in the new Tundra, with a 6 speed automatic transmission. There are actually three engines available for Toyota Tundra i.e. 4.7L, producing 276hp and 313pound feet torque. 4.0 L V6 with 236h, producing 266 pounds feet torque. The 5.7L V8 engine with 381 hp, producing 401 pounds feet torque. Toyota Tundra is equipped with safety features such as dual front airbags, side airbags, rollover sensing airbags, anti lock braking system, stability control, traction control, brake assist along with electronic brake force distribution. In the 2010 a new knee airbag for the front passenger and the driver was also included.
Actually, Toyota Tundra was made before in extended version and in regular version. The regular variant came in long form, whereas the extended cab came with the short bed. After some time they included rear doors for the rear passengers, but the back seats are not that much spacious. There are three variants coming in Toyota Tundra. Firstly base model. It is made in two wheel drive for regular model only. It has 3.4L V6 engine with 190 hp and 270lb torque. Then it was midsize SR5 and the top of the line model.
The top model is available in 4.7L V8 engine. It has a strong revving power with 245 hp and 314 lb torque, and it was also available with standard 4 speed automatic transmission along with 6 speed auto trans.
Toyota started to manufacture TRD supercharger with a 5.7L V8 engine in Toyota Tundra in June 2008. It has power of 504 hp and 550 lb torque. A unique thing is that after the installation of this kit, the warranty is intact. The price for that kit is 5,875$. Tundra can complete a ¼ mile in 13.3 secs with a speed of 167km/h. While a normal 5.7L do it in 14.8 secs with a speed of 150 km/h. By the end of 2005 Toyota Motors were able to sell 126,529 units of Toyota Tundra worldwide.
